The 2023 vintage is crisp, fresh, and fruity. Meladoro apple wine is the counterpart to the white wine—only not made from grapes, but from 100% Lake Constance apples. A special blend of four aromatic apple varieties: Topaz, Jonagold, Boskoop, and Rubinette.

'Mela d'oro' not only sounds very melodic, but is also the Italian name for Golden Apple.

The hand-picked apples from Lake Constance come from our own orchards. The Lake Constance region benefits from its Mediterranean climate, which is reflected in the robust aroma of the fruit grown here. Meladoro is our homage to the Lake Constance apple.

It is best enjoyed at 8 – 10 °C.

Enjoyment recommendation

Enjoy the Meladoro cider chilled from a wine glass.

Meladoro cider is ideal as an aperitif and as an accompaniment to dishes such as cheese and fish.

Sensory perception

Review / Tasting by wine sommelier Bettina Mutschler:

The Meladoro surprised me – and in a completely positive way.

The look is elegant. The label is delicate, gold and slate gray. The Meladoro, the golden apple, adorns the label in negative, alongside stylized apple blossoms. The apple varieties used, as well as the vintage, are listed on the front of the label.

When tasting, I expected a typical apple wine, which was what the label, the description, and ultimately my nose had predicted. Distinctive apple notes, a clear reminiscence of my childhood and the smells of my grandparents' fruit cellar. Crisp apple aromas and, at the same time, ripe, floury apple fruits. Quince and forest honey are also present. Delicate vanilla notes, some cooked yellow fruits, and apple sauce. I was then surprised by the winey structure. It tastes grapey, with the apple and quince remaining. Wonderfully balanced in the mouth. We detect no carbonation; this is a still wine. Beautifully integrated acidity, which the wine needs to showcase its finesse. Pleasant fruit that knows how to demand its space, but can also remain complementary in the background. Slight bitterness on the finish, but by no means disturbing.

A wonderful accompaniment to food or a delight on its own. A truly enjoyable wine. Our guests declared it a fine wine in our blind tasting at our wine and cheese seminar.

We look forward to tasting the sparkling wine that is still waiting.
