No story, just desire for distilling
Sometimes you don't need a big story. Just that one feeling:
When you stand in the middle of nature, in peace, after a day's work – perhaps after harvesting fruit – whose ripening you have accompanied from spring to autumn.
This feeling has been with us for years. It was also the catalyst for Andrea – after completing her training as a distiller – to found Brennlust in 2016. Since then, we have been working as a family with complete dedication to create honest, handmade distillates.
Craftsmanship across generations
Our family has been distilling for four generations.
Otto taught himself the art of distilling through specialist literature and a great deal of curiosity – over the years, we have worked together to refine our quality and recipes. What began as a hobby is now a family business that we continue to run with passion.
Andrea brings fresh ideas, we bring experience – and the best thing about it is that we work together every day to combine the two.
Joy of craftsmanship
We don't believe in secret family recipes from the attic.
Instead, we believe in the joy of tinkering, tasting – and genuine distilling craftsmanship.
We develop our own recipes, often over a period of months. Everything we use comes from our own cultivation or selected sources. Only what convinces us in terms of taste goes into our products. This results in distillates that are natural, honest and unadulterated.
Small. Family-run. Uncompromising.
We are a small family business – and that's exactly how we want to stay. And when we need extra help, we have the best enthusiastic volunteers to support us.
We work without employees – in production, bottling, labelling and packaging. Every bottle is handmade with great attention to detail. We only harvest when the fruit is fully ripe – based on intuition, experience and taste, not the calendar.
And if something is sold out, then so be it. Because some things take time – and that's a good thing.
